The RECALL Knowledge
Bank is a new approach to organisational expert knowledge management
developed by EBM. Originally designed to assist the decommissioning
of the UK's nuclear installations. It captures and stores tacit
knowledge and expertise from present and former employees. These
personal testimonies, recorded on video and held in a digital
archive, can be viewed by future staff providing valuable insights
into past working practices relationships and the reasons behind
key decisions.
  
RECALL allows access to
this 'virtual mentoring' long after the experts themselves have
left their jobs. Archive contents can thus be used to support
current training programmes, improve productivity and performance,
promote business continuity and - by tapping into past expertise
- reduce the risks associated with decommissioning. The personal
accounts of mentors will be particularly helpful in clarifying
written records and understanding why projects deviated from
agreed plans.

RECALL's quality capture
process is meticulously planned to maximise the candour and
accuracy of participants' accounts so that future users can
have confidence in the resource. Basing the interviews on agreed
priorities ensures that the knowledge of mentors is readily
retrievable and delivers maximum value.
This innovative service has been developed by EBM Strategic
Consulting with funding from the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning
Authority. It is now available as a 'foundation package', providing
the consultancy and access to RECALL technology needed to produce
a working digital archive to your specific requirements.
